OVERALL CONCEPT
< Not sure how the hot start begins, so this will need to build upon that. >
Overall, Geoff is struggling to find work ever since AI has taken over and has been forced to pick-up odd jobs lately. This builds the foundation to why Geoff keeps disappearing between Categories and then reappearing in different outfits and with different props. The overall objective is to match Geoff’s costume and storyline to the Category videos that will play before he returns to stage.
Starting Costume: Navy blue suit, with white shirt
EMERGING I
Performance: After the video plays, Ari makes his way to stage and Geoff clambers up on the side stairs, arms filled with corded desk phones, and dragging a few of the receivers behind him. Ari questions Geoff about all the phones and Geoff says “to make some extra cash I am helping the House of Blues with a little remodeling project. I’m helping them get rid of some of their outdated technology”…some how that segues into the Category Nominees.
Costume & Props: Same suit that Geoff started the show in, but now the shirt is a little untucked, the tie is gone, sleeves are rolled-up and the jacket is no longer in sight. Geoff will be dragging several corded desk phones with receivers banging on stuff behind him as he walks on stage.
EMERGING II
Performance: After the video plays, Geoff comes running in from the rear of the room (through the front doors of HOB) wearing a yellow rain slicker and carrying a bag of Uber Eats (or something related to the show). Geoff complains about the weather and takes off the rain jacket revealing a red stain on his shirt. When questioned, he claims someone was painting in the back hallway and he bumped into it.
Costume & Props: Same suit pants that Geoff started the show in, but now the shirt has a red stain that looks like a handprint across the front. Geoff will now be wearing a bright colored (wet) raincoat, perhaps an umbrella and a large delivery bag (still need to find a way to make it relevant to the show).
POWERHOUSE
Performance: After the video plays, Geoff makes his way on stage wearing a white chef jacket and tall white chef hat. When asked about his attire, he says he wanted to change out of his red stained shirt and this was the only thing he could find in his size. When asked why he’s wearing the ridiculous hat he responds, “I’d don’t know, I always wanted to wear one and since I’m wearing the jacket, I might as well wear the hat too.”
Costume & Props: Same suit pants, now with a white chef jacket and toque.
NEXT CORNERSTONE
Performance: After the video plays, Geoff comes running onto stage wearing a tattered white t-shirt and carrying a chainsaw. When questioned, he says he forgot he promised his neighbor he would help him trim his tree this evening. “I knew it would only take a few minutes so I thought I run home real quick to help…sorry I’m late…did I miss anything?”
Costume & Props: Same suit pants, tattered white undershirt, and a full size, gas powered chainsaw.
